Case Study – Hydro Vortex Drop Shaft Pipework

Industry

Water & Waste Management industry, UK.

Application Date

September 2021.

Scope of work

Surface preparation and application of our Corrocoat Polyglass VEF coating and Armagel coating system to protect the internals of the stainless steel pipework and the internals and externals of an energy dissipation unit. Corroserve were advised the pipes would be used as part of a system transporting storm/ surface water with a mix of ground water. The ground water is highly saline and could be abrasive due to rocks/ debris.

Products

Intermal: Polyglass VEF & Corrocoat Armagel.

External: Polyglass Zipcoat.

Substrate

Stainless Steel.

Coating system

  •  Abrasive blasted internal and externals to ISO 8501-1 cleanliness standard Sa2 1/2  minimum surface area of 50 microns.
  • Applied Polyglass VEF internally to achieve a  DFT of 500 microns.
  • Spark test following coating.
  • Applied Corrocoat Armagel internally to  achieve a minimum overall DFT of 1850  microns
  • Thickness checked.
  • Abrasive blasted externals with new abrasive in  accordance with ISO 8501-1to Sa2.
  • Applied Polyglass Zipcoat to the externals to achieve a minimum DTF of 800 microns for the drop  line.
  • Pack and prepare for dispatch to Dubai.

Coating credentials

The Corrocoat range of coatings has been applied around the world since the early 1970’s. Corroserve have long term service records in aggressive environments in excess of 20 years, for a variety of process equipment and vessels. However, an excellent coating system also requires the best surface preparation, application and inspection and testing. These are services all carried out by Corroserve when the system is applied.
