Case Study – Pig launcher relined for service at onshore oil terminal

A pig launcher in service at a UK onshore oil field and processing facility required protection against corrosion caused by standing water that remains in the pipework between pig runs. Corroglass 600
At Corroserve’s Leeds workshop the machined surfaces were masked prior to abrasive blasting followed by a blow down, sweep and vacuum to completely remove dust. Corroglass 600 was then applied, followed by Polyglass VEF to the required dft using the Agmec internal pipe-spraying system. Once cured all surface protection was removed, edges dressed and a full visual inspection completed. Thickness testing and spark testing was also completed to ensure the quality of the finished coating system. Corroglass 600 and VEF combined as a system will provide the best possible resistance to chemicals and temperature. The finished coating system will significantly extend the service life of the pig launcher.
