Case Study – Protection for Pump Wetted Areas

Scope of work

Upon inspection, the HSC split pump casing and cover were found to have suffered from severe erosion corrosion around discharge cutwater, discharge bend and stuffing box bores. The stationary wear ring landings had already been mechanically repaired by the client, so we were only required to build up the eroded areas with one of our coating systems.


Corroglass 632, Corroglass 602, Plasmet ZF.


Cast Iron.

Coating system

  • Grit blasted all internal areas requiring coating to ISO850-1 to Sa 21/2.
  • Applied a priming coating using Corroglass 632
  • Built up coating to a dry film thickness of 1.5mm using Corroglass 602
  • Thickness and spark tested
  • External areas grit blasted and 2 coats of Plasmet ZF applied.
