Industry:
Marine
The Challenge:
Corroserve was asked to recommend a programme of work to prepare the surface of, and to recoat an impeller that had suffered abrasion and wear and required ongoing protection before being returned to service in a marine setting.
The Solution:
After arrival at Corroserve’s Leeds workshop the service team prepared the impeller by abrasive blasting the surface to Sa2½ to provide a minimum surface profile of 50μm. The team them hand coated the impeller using Corroglass 600 series to achieve a minimum dft of 1250μm. When cured the impeller was spark tested to ensure the integrity of the coating.
The professional preparation of the impeller before coating and the use of Corroglass 600 will ensure that the impeller will be in service for many more years. The specialist coating used is designed to provide protection against corrosion in immersed and non-immersed locations and is resistant to acids, solvents and demineralised water.
Corroserve’s engineering skills and advanced protective coating systems provide unrivalled levels of corrosion protection in the harshest environments.
