Three newly manufactured globe valve bodies and bonnets required surface preparation and corrosion protection before entering service carrying sea water.
Corroserve’s coatings team masked up all machined surfaces prior to abrasive blasting to the required cleanliness standard, Sa2½. Once blasting was completed, and a surface profile of 50 µm achieved, a final blow down was completed and the valves were vacuumed to remove any dust.
Corroglass 600 specialist coating was then applied to both valves and bonnets to the required dft. Corroglass 600 provides excellent corrosion protection against sea water in immersed environments. After curing all surface protection was removed, edges dressed and a full visual inspection was completed. Thickness and spark testing were also completed to ensure the quality of the applied coating and to confirm no holidays were present.
The globe valves and bonnets were then prepared for dispatch back to the customer and ready for installation fully protected against corrosion.
